Peninsula Health | Energy Performance Contract

With increasing patient demand coupled with aging infrastructure and rising utility costs, Peninsula Health is facing unprecedented pressures on budgets and service delivery. Hospital facilities services staff were increasingly strained in their efforts to respond to faults and breakdowns of unreliable and inefficient infrastructure, which required major overhauls.

FG Advisory was appointed as the head contractor to deliver an Energy Performance Contract (EPC), providing access to low cost capital and delivering much needed capital works upgrades and guaranteed savings to the hospital.

Based on the strategies identified from a detailed Level 3 Energy Audit, EPC solutions covered multiple upgrades to services infrastructure, including major mechanical (steam to hot water conversion, controls and ventilation), rooftop solar PV, lighting and controls, electrical and hydraulic upgrades.

Sensitive to project delivery requirements within the 24/7 critical hospital environment, our engineering and project delivery team held extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders to capture the needs of patients, medical professionals and other user groups were appropriately met.

The EPC implemented at Peninsula Health with guaranteed savings within a five-year payback period, delivered ahead of schedule. With positive user feedback, minimised disruption, maintaining continuity of services, modernisation of critical plant and equipment, the EPC has become a benchmark for hospital energy retrofit projects across Australia.
